If you’re struggling to catch, field, or hit in baseball, then you may be lacking some hand-eye coordination. With these super easy to do hand-eye coordination drills, your fielding, catching, and hitting will get right back on track and you’ll start playing the way you know you should have. The best part about these hand-eye coordination drills is that you can do them pretty much anywhere and by yourself!

Hand-Eye Coordination Drill #1 – Training With Mini Wiffle Balls

You can use mini wiffle balls to work on your hand-eye coordination. When you train with these small balls, you have to be super focused and really be soft with your hands. This means, over time with practice, you will get better with your hand-eye coordination. You can also add in the mini gloves to catch the mini wiffle balls in this drill and you can even get a mini wiffle ball pitching machine so you don’t need a partner to practice these hand-eye coordination drills.

Hand-Eye Coordination Drill #2 – Ball Drops

For this drill you’re just going to get a ball that bounces and throw it out in front of yourself and try to run and catch it before it hits the ground a second time. This drill is great because it not only works on hand-eye coordination but it also works on your first step speed and explosiveness which is also very important in baseball.

Hand-Eye Coordination Drill #3 – Wall Ball Fielding

Throwing a ball off of a wall is a simple but great way to work on hand-eye coordination for baseball. You can do this all by yourself and it’s fun! Just make sure you’re throwing the ball against a wall that can be thrown at. I don’t want any of you putting holes in walls and then blaming Coach Madden from YouTube!

Practice These Hand-Eye Coordination Drills

These hand-eye coordination drills will only help you if you practice them. Don’t just watch the video above and say “Oh that’s cool” and then do nothing about it. Practice them! Come up with a plan on how to implement them into your baseball training sessions. Maybe plan to do these drills 3-4 times a week and 3 sets of 20-30 catches/swings each. That would be a good place to start if you want to be a better baseball player.
